#1 Hide and Seek Doll, $25 in Apple Valley, CA
“I know a lot of people think this is very creepy, and its totally understandable because I also think shes creepy! That’s actually the reason why I bought her. I love creepy and scary things so this was a must have for my creepy-stuff collection. I take no offense to anything anyone has said, I’m VERY used to people questioning the things I like.”
#2 “I’m not sure why this doll was even made, she’s kind of scary.”
#3 The Goat Man Doll
“My mom is selling her house that she has been in for 51 years. It’s been quite a process of sorting, selling & packing and there have been some fun walks down memory lane. There are some great finds that have been tucked away on shelves and in closets that belong on this page. This guy, though, tops the list. Mom has always been an avid doll collector and for as long as I remember “the goat man” (as we dubbed him) was there standing among the rest on the shelf. My dad picked him up somewhere out west in a souvenir shop. We always thought he was just about the ugliest (with a touch of creepy and slightly scary) thing in her collection. One year, she entered him at the fair and came home with a second place ribbon just to prove to us how “special” he was, lol. So, here we were in the midst of purging and deciding what will get kept. Nobody wanted to keep the poor goat guy around, but all of a sudden my husband (who doesn’t have a sentimental bone in his body) pipes up and says “you have to keep the goat man!” – the next thing I knew, he was coming home with me and now resides in our bedroom. I’m naming him Gilbert….it’s a bit more dignified than goat man.”
#4 The Mean Chair and The Scary Doll
“I can’t imagine where in someones everyday life that this chair would have “fit in” or made sense, but once it is pulled back together it is going to make my world a bit more complete! Picked it up locally on Marketplace. The seller accepted my offer immediately, so they seemed greatful for it to be moving on! Lol LUCKY ME….Dolly was once a mild mannered flower basket carrying little ginger girl. Then a friend hosted a party where a few of us gathered to “scary up” dolls for Halloween. One of the girls is super into it. Dolly got a makeover and her little friend got mouthy about her new aestetic, and…well… Dude got what he got. She resides there on my antique Army footlocker 24/7 keeping people in line!”
#5 “The scary dolls that live in my husband’s office.”
